Our Tutors
Our tutors are highly qualified academics, having achieved honours degrees (and in many cases, pursued postgraduate degrees) in their specialist area. They are highly trained educationalists with a passion for teaching.
Jonathan Leung is the founder and director of Davenport’s Private Tuition. It is his belief that all students be given the freedom, encouragement and opportunity to fulfil their potential. To that end, he founded Davenport's, with a focus on attainment and academic excellence. His own academic career is extensive. Having achieved a B.Sc (Hons) in Biomedical Science, he then pursued postgraduate studies in Medicine (MBBS) at St. George’s Hospital and Medical School. His career in education has involved both group work and personal tuition. It is his experience with these teaching methods that has led him to the fundamental ethos of Davenport's Private Tuition
Meera Thayalan is a qualified Biomedical Scientist having completed a B.Sc (Hons) in Medical Biology from Brunel University. She then achieved an M.Sc in Biomedical Research from King's College London, and is awaiting awardment of a PhD in Molecular Cell Biology from University College London. She is currently completing a postgraduate degree in Medicine (MBBS) at St George's Hospital and Medical School. She has a wealth of experience, having tutored Biology at all levels to degree for over ten years. She has spent the previous nine years at a private tuition school. Through this experience, she has identified optimal teaching methods, as demonstrated by the high achievement rate of her students. She has particular expertise and success in improving performances in under-performing students. She thoroughly enjoys teaching young adults, and believes that tailored teaching and differentiation is key to the success. Her ethos asserts that identifying individual weaknesses and focussing on specific exam technique are paramount to achieving the highest grades.
